A lot of conversation is being held, no doubt, about Emily Armstrong, the new frontwoman for Linkin Park. I had a chance to check out the start of the band's From Zero Tour. ALL I can say, as an actual musician, and someone who has been one since childhood--Emily was the absolute best choice to carry on Chester's legacy. The songs come alive again when Emily sings them, and the Lord Up Above knows we have been waiting for 7 years to shout those songs again.
The energy was there, Chester was there, in all of us, and in Emily, too. She also introduces another dynamic that I think will really knock everyone to the ground, and it's her immense amount of strength, resiliency, and refusal to give in to the naysayers, even rise above them all, to enormous heights. It is the very warrior spirit that made us all fall in love with LP when they first hit the scene two decades ago. That spirit is back, the fight is on, and if you miss this run, that's your loss.
Very much a memorable night, I cannot believe I got to experience this. You should experience it, too.

His emoting in the middle of the show was the best part of the night - whether alone on guitar or a piano solo.. All you needed was right there, in him.
The message to realize that "we are all people" and to love each other, screamed at the top of his lungs, was more healing than any therapy session I've had.
The climax was watching him overcome with emotions then plop on the floor, guitar under arm, after he fought back tears and finally lost that battle. It was the most human moment I experienced in a long time, and I felt blessed to witness it.
His infectious smile and his authentic demeanor makes you want to root for the kid and cheer for him to win.
I cannot wait to see more from him.
